We champion equity.
Our mission is to provide wellness for all. That includes our Health First family. Our doctors, nurses, technicians, and associates come from all over the state of Florida, all over the country, and all over the world. We celebrate the diversity of our team. Because our organization’s culture is enriched by a range of perspectives, traditions, and shared experiences.
What is health equity?
Health equity is a commitment to provide high-level care to all populations. The goal of health equity is to remove obstacles and disparities such as:
- Race
- Disability
- Literacy
- Ethnicity
- Language preferences
- Gender identity
Removing these disparities is important. It gives everyone a fair and just opportunity to achieve the highest level of health and well-being. The healthcare industry’s goal is to get rid of disparities that have been rising throughout the healthcare system. The goal is to ensure people are getting the care that they need to be healthy.
Focusing on improving the health of the people most in need is key. This will:
- Improve social well-being
- Strengthen the economy
- Build a strong, equitable future for all
What we’re doing to help.
Health First and Health First Health Plans are committed to identifying opportunities and eliminating health disparities. We’re also committed to healthcare access and overall quality of care for our customers so they can receive the best healthcare possible.
Here are some ways we are working to achieve this:
- Involving everyone. We are fostering an internal culture that supports the health equity framework.
- Educating. We ensure our associates and our network of providers receive training on health equity topics, such as cultural competence, bias, diversity, and inclusion.
- Collecting data. We securely collect and use demographic information to identify and measure potential disparities.
- Acting. Actions speak louder than words. So we are taking these steps to ensure the health equity framework stays in place:
»Partnering with our providers and community to develop and share available resources.
»Working with providers to improve outcomes and address unconscious bias.
» Annually reviewing and updating our programs, services, and resources, as needed, in response to identified disparities.
» Tailoring benefits based on the specific identified needs of our customers.
We believe in empowering voices.
Everyone has a story. We want to hear them all. When our consumers and associates share their unique perspectives, they help build bridges in the community and improve our organization.
We promise opportunity.
Health First is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants fairly and equally no matter their race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, age, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status.
