FRAXEL® co2 Laser

Turn back the years, in minutes! Fraxel® treatments utilize safe, fractional laser technology to treat and correct skin damage, from minor to severe.

The Fraxel co2 laser technology is the culmination of years of exacting research on facial rejuvenation. If you are looking for a way to rejuvenate your skin, increase the "young" collagen that resides in the skin during our youth, and eliminate unsightly, pigmented spots that often occur as people mature, then Fraxel laser treatments may be just right for you.

By using millions of tiny laser spots, separated by untreated skin, the designers of Fraxel technology found that the body is stimulated to repair itself, to biologically turn back the hands of time. Fraxel technology targets damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into the skin. For every microscopic zone the laser targets and treats intensively, it leaves the surrounding tissue unaffected and intact. This "fractional" treatment allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area were treated at once, by using the body's natural healing process to create new, healthy, tighter tissue to replace your skin's imperfections. Because the Fraxel laser treats skin in a segmental manner, the laser leaves untreated skin in-between treated skin, which allows the skin to heal much faster. For patients, this means less downtime and less risk for complications.

The team at Health First Dermatology has treated hundreds of patients with the Fraxel co2 Laser. As a result, it has proven to be one of the most effective, least invasive resurfacing procedures on the market. In our practice, we treat not only the face, but also the chest, neck and hands with the Fraxel laser, improving the appearance of those regions, usually over a course of three or four treatments. Age spots, the "mask of pregnancy," mild wrinkling around the eyes and the mottled appearance of the skin, will all see dramatic improvement with the Fraxel, and is all done without the need of general anesthesia. Fraxel is also used to treat and minimize scars. Patients are also seeing more skin tightening, as a result, since Fraxel repair is a great treatment for the earliest signs of aging, including jowling and wrinkles. With the introduction of this new technology, the dream of smoother more youthful looking skin has finally become a reality.

Benefits include:

  • • Improved texture, tone and pore size
  • • Erase unwanted brown spot
  • • Smooth wrinkles around the eyes and reduce acne scars

What to expect

At your initial consultation, a treatment plan will be determined in order to obtain your desired results. Clinical studies suggest that on average, an effective treatment regimen is three to five sessions spaced about two to four weeks apart. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes for a full face. Topical anesthesia ointment is used in most cases and laser treatment performed right in the doctor's office. You may experience a mild sunburn sensation for about an hour, then minimal discomfort following. Swelling is also minimal and usually resolves itself in two to three days. Your skin's pinkish tone or redness is a normal sign indicating the skin is deeply healing. Downtime can range from two to five days for less aggressive treatments and seven to ten days for more aggressive treatments. It is normal to expect some pinkness, flaking, dryness, and tightening of the skin, as well as some pigmentation changes, which may last up to one to two weeks.

Results are both immediate and progressive. However, optimum improvement will be visible within two to three months. Most patients are able to return to routine activities, including work, the same day of treatment. Others may require a little more time depending upon their skin condition and treatment.
