Fraxel® is one of the most effective yet least invasive procedures to help your skin look healthier, younger and more refreshed.
Using fractional laser technology, our board-certified dermatologists can treat and correct minor to severe skin damage on your face, chest, neck and hands. Over the course of three to four treatments, you will see a marked improvement of some of the most common problems, including:
- Age spots/brown spots
- Wrinkles
- Mottled skin appearance
- Scarring
- Jowls
How it works
Fraxel targets and treats damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin, while leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected and intact. This cutting-edge, targeted technology allows your skin to heal much faster by using your body’s natural healing process to create healthy and tighter tissue and increase collagen production.
You will discuss a treatment plan with your dermatologist at your initial consultation. The average effective treatment regimen is three to five Fraxel sessions spaced about two to four weeks apart.
Fraxel does not require general anesthesia and it takes less than 30 minutes for a full-face treatment.
What to expect after your treatments
While you will see results immediately, improvements will continue over the next several weeks. You can expect to see your best results about two to three months later.
We use a topical anesthetic ointment during your treatment, but you may experience minimal discomfort, including a mild sunburn sensation, for about an hour afterward.
Swelling is also mild and typically goes down in two to three days. You may notice some redness or a pinkish tone following treatment which indicates the deepest layers of skin are healing. You may also experience flaking, dryness and pigmentation changes, which are all normal side effects that may last up to two weeks.
While most patients are able to return to work and their normal daily activities on the same day of their treatment, some people need a few days of rest depending on their skin condition and treatment.
