Seborrheic keratosis, or SKs, are common, non-cancerous lesions that can grow on the outer layer of your skin. They can develop anywhere on your body and are most common in adults, increasing in number as you age.
SKs are typically rough, scaly, crusty and can be light tan to dark brown. They may also appear as raised bumps that look almost like warts. Unlike actinic keratosis, SKs are not related to sun exposure, but they do tend to run in families.
Seborrheic keratosis removal
They cannot be prevented and do not need to be treated. If you would like your SKs removed or if they are itchy, painful or prone to bleeding, please visit our office. We can freeze them off with liquid nitrogen, shave them off with a blade or scrape them off with a curette. Scarring will be minimal.
