Dr. Amgott grew up in New Jersey. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Princeton University, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. His undergraduate research on cellular differentiation was recognized by membership in Sigma Xi, the National Scientific Research Honor Society.

Dr. Amgott completed medical school and internal medicine training at Johns Hopkins. He then did his pulmonary training at Duke Universty, where he met his wife Colleen, a critical care nurse. In 1984, Dr. Amgott began serving Brevard and has practiced a blend of inpatient and outpatient pulmonary medicine, critical care, and sleep medicine. Dr. Amgott was the medical director of the Holmes Regional Medical Center Respiratory Therapy Department for 20 years.

He is currently a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and a member of the American Thoracic Society. Outside of medicine, his interests include competitive running, American history, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Policies

New patients should arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled appointments to complete all paperwork. They should bring their insurance cards, a government-issued photo ID, and lists of their medicines and any prior operations. Co-pays and any outstanding balances are due at the time of each visit. Generally, operations or procedures won't take place on the first visit.
