Dr. Richard J. Pfeiffer is an orthopedic surgeon with Health First Medical Group. He is board certified and specialty-trained in general orthopedics and sports medicine. His practice includes general orthopedic surgery with an interest in arthroscopic surgeries of the shoulder and knee.

He has served in various leadership positions throughout his career. During his 10 years in private practice in Colorado Springs, CO, Pfeiffer served as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Orthopedics for both the Veteran's Administration and the University of Colorado in Denver, CO. Following his private practice, Pfeiffer was the fellowship program director of sports medicine while serving as an assistant professor for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Texas Tech University. Prior to joining the team at Health First, Pfeiffer was employed by Covenant Medical Group for the past eight years in Lubbock, TX.

Pfeiffer's passion for sports medicine goes beyond the office. He has held a variety of roles working as the team physician for The Colorado College, U.S. Olympic Alpine Ski and Snowboarding teams, Texas Tech University, Lubbock Christian University, and various high schools in both Colorado and Texas.

Pfeiffer is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is board certified through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons in both orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine.

New patients should arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled appointments to complete all paperwork. They should bring their insurance cards, a government-issued photo ID, and lists of their medicines and any prior operations. Co-pays and any outstanding balances are due at the time of each visit. Generally, operations or procedures won't take place on the first visit.
