Medical Weight-Loss Management
By helping you hone in on the right weight-related habits both before and after your procedure, NewFit's medical weight-loss management program is more than helping you get to your goal - it's about helping you stay there. This highly personalized, extensive and comprehensive approach includes:
Diet - NewFit's dietary team will work with you to develop a personalized meal plan that helps you kick cravings, fight fat, and get the nutrients you need to stay nourished.
Exercise - Our exercise physiologists will customize a program according to your specific weight-loss needs, workout wants, and fitness level. (Personal training and physical therapy sessions are also available.)

Behavior Modification - Part of achieving long-term success is changing the way you think about food and fitness. And from support groups to individualized counseling, our team will provide tools and techniques to help keep you emotionally equipped at every stage of weight loss.
Additional Methods - While we strive to stick to the basics (diet, exercise, and behavior modification), we are more than willing to explore additional methods when needed. From weight-loss medications to continual medical monitoring, see how NewFit can provide the best medical management plan for you.
What To Expect At Every Step
NewFit's comprehensive, multi-disciplinary team can usually perform 100% of your needed pre-op treatment and testing - saving you the time and hassle of jumping from place-to-place. While our surgical weight-loss process may differ by patient, procedure and other factors, here are the basics to give you a better idea of what to expect at every step.
After Your Initial Visit
- Meet with your personal nurse navigator to help guide you through the entire process
- Psychological, nutritional, & exercise physiology consultations
- Standard lab tests, including chemistry, blood count, lipid profile, liver profile, urine analysis, thyroid profile, and diabetic profile
- Medical testing and evaluations as needed for those with existing health conditions
- Some patients must participate in three to six months of medically managed weight loss in order to be approved for the procedure by their insurance
- We ask that you abstain from smoking and alcohol
In the Weeks Before Surgery
- We will put you on a strict weight-loss diet, which usually requires you to cut out all refined carbs, sugar, and soda
- We will work with you to optimize nutritional deficiencies and other concerning lab results as needed before providing surgery
- Your pre-op visit will provide the opportunity to go over tests, answer questions, perform a final pre-surgical evaluation, discuss preparation for the procedure and more
Initially Following Your Procedure
- Remember to stay hydrated
- Walking is encouraged, but avoid any strenuous physical activity or lifting
- Follow a graduated post-surgery diet
- Attend follow-up visits with NewFit team members as instructed
- Return to work and normal activities as cleared by your physician
Long-Term
- The amount of weight loss varies by procedure, and success is significantly affected by diet and exercise
- Your quality of life and physical capabilities may greatly improve
- You may experience drastic improvement or resolution for existing medical conditions
- You will need to follow lifelong behavior changes, attend follow-up visits and remain committed to exercise
- If you find yourself falling back into old habits or experiencing former temptations, our team and support groups will be there to help you resolve potential setbacks and find the strength needed to continue your weight-loss success
