Health First Health Plans' Medicare Advantage members armed themselves against influenza at no cost, at their convenience.

Being out and about is something plenty of us are wary of these days. We're all weighing risks versus rewards when it comes to where we need to be or what we need to do.

So, when it comes to flu shots, are they really even necessary, considering many of us are sticking close to home?

Absolutely. And for Health First Health Plans Medicare Advantage members, we want to keep you healthy — and make it easy for you to do so.

Perfect example — the Health Plan recently offered a series of free drive-through flu shots for our Medicare Advantage members. Members were able to just drive up, roll down their windows, and arm themselves against influenza — without setting foot into a medical office or pharmacy.

"Health First Health Plans is committed to helping our members stay well," said Matt Gerrell, CEO of Health First Health Plans. "We realize that many of our members are leery of making any extra trips to places where they could potentially be around others who might be ill. Giving them a safe, convenient option for protecting themselves against the flu makes sense."

The Health Plan partnered with Health First Medical Group to simplify this process. For Medicare Advantage members who wanted the drive-through flu shot option, they simply called our scheduling office, registered for the time that worked best for them, showed up at their appointment time, and drove through at our Malabar, Gateway, Viera, and Merritt Island locations.

That was it.

While these drive-through Medicare Advantage clinics are complete, those who would still like to get a flu shot are encouraged to call their Primary Care Provider's office to set up an appointment. Health First Family Pharmacy can also administer flu shots on a walk-in basis.
