Last year, Health First awarded more than $360,000 to 12 Brevard County-based nonprofits. The first quarter reports from our grantees show two things. First, these awards are not giveaways – successful nonprofits have produced measurable results with the funds awarded. Second, the impact of these grants are improving and saving lives.
As a not-for-profit healthcare organization, Health First's mission is to improve wellness in our community. And we cannot do it alone. We’re always on the lookout for strategic partnerships with seismic potential.

Now, the application period for the 2023-2024 grant cycle has opened, and Health First is again looking for big wins like we found at WAYS for Life Brevard – a non-profit that provides wraparound services to help teens and young adults avoid homelessness and crime. This Wellness Grant is helping expand WAYS for Life’s essential services and continued support of healthcare navigation programs.
The grant awards focus on the disparities identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment in partnership with the Space Coast Health Foundation. They’re directed by the Community Health Improvement Committee, a group comprised of Health First leaders across the system, who evaluated and approved applications with an eye toward improving the wellness and health disparities in our community.
