MELBOURNE, FL (March 30, 2020) - Is it a tickle in my throat? Is that a spike in my temperature? What should I do? In response to concerns the community has about COVID-19, Health First Health Plans is announcing it will waive all Virtual Visit copays and cost shares for its members during this worldwide pandemic.
As our nation is urged to help slow the spread of COVID-19, our local community is concerned about how to best receive routine medical care. Many still have earaches, scratchy throats or other conditions that they would routinely visit a physician, however during this time are concerned about entering a physician's office.
An option now being offered by many physicians throughout Brevard County is a Virtual Visit. This type of visit allows the patient to connect with a provider from the comfort of their own home. Insurances usually cover the cost of these visits with the same copay as an in-office visit.
To help keep our community well and relieve the concern of visiting a physician office during this time, Health First Health Plans is waiving all Virtual Visit copays and cost shares for its members during this worldwide pandemic. This will allow Health First Health Plans' thousands of Brevard County members to seek care without the stress of coming into a physician office and without having to worry about paying out of their pocket. Health First Health Plans' members should contact their in-network physician to learn how to schedule a Virtual Visit.
"We know this is an extremely stressful time for our community," said Steve Johnson, Health First President & CEO. "We hope this temporary elimination of copays and cost share will bring peace of mind to our health plan members and keep Brevard well."
