As healthcare workers scramble to find childcare during the mandated closure of schools to curb the spread of COVID-19, Health First is offering their associates a helping hand.
The Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) will be providing free childcare to associates, including security and food service contractors G4S and Sodexo, starting Monday, March 23. This is provided as a service to our associates who are caring for our community.
"We're here to care for Brevard and help our friends, family and neighbors get through these unsettling times," said Paula Just, Chief Human Resources Officer, Health First. "We know many of our associates need childcare with these mandated school closures, and we want to alleviate that stress for them. By taking care of our associates, they are able to care for you, our community."
Childcare will be provided Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Health First's Center for Child Development in Melbourne (near Health First's Holmes Regional Medical Center) and Health First's Pro-Health & Fitness Center in Viera (near Health First's Viera Hospital). Associates must be working a shift during these designated time frames to be eligible.
The State of Florida is requiring K-12 schools statewide remain closed through April 15, so Health First is planning on providing this service through that date at this point. Leaders will continue to monitor the situation, including whether additional childcare facilities need to be added.
