Things aren't easy right now - and trying to stay on top of healthy eating might seem a little overwhelming. But it doesn't have to be. Taking care of our emotional and physical health is crucial during this period of uncertainty, stress and social distancing. Making smart food choices is another important factor in overall wellness.
That's why we're sharing another installment of our "Healthy at Home" video series. Health First Dietician/Nutritionist Susie Bond is here to show you how simple it is to eat well. Click on this link to see the video, as Susie explains how you can incorporate smart choices at you stay at home:
- Plan your meals and snacks in advance: This not only helps you to maintain healthy eating habits, but also insures that you're not eating randomly throughout the day.
- Focus on health snacks: Try to keep junk food out of your house altogether. Instead, stock up on fruit, raw veggies, reduced-fat cheeses, nuts and yogurt.
- Make a grocery list: This will help you avoid processed foods and, instead, focus on buying real food.
- Drink plenty of water: Start your morning with at least 8 ounces of water and continue to drink throughout the day. This will help to keep you hydrated and help eliminate toxins and bacteria that may cause illness.
- Stay away from the kitchen: If you're working from home, set up your workstation somewhere other than the kitchen. This will help keep you focused on your work, rather than what's in the fridge.
We hope this helps you navigate these tough times a little better. Be well and stay safe.
