Health First to Offer Free Educational Event on Heartburn and Esophageal Cancer
WHAT: Health First Medical Group will hold an event to educate people about the difference between heartburn, acid reflux and esophageal cancer. April is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month and this important event will also explore cancer prevention and new treatment options for acid reflux. The event will be hosted by Health First Medical Group Dr. Mark Fusco.
Panelists will include:
Dr. Mark Fusco — General Surgeon, with Health First Medical Group Dr. Athan Kartsonis — Gastroenterologist, with Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center Kristine Van Workum — Registered dietician Milton Arthur — Esophageal cancer patient will offer his testimony and insight on prevention and treatment
With cases of esophageal cancer on the rise, proper screening is more important than ever. In addition, the risk of esophageal cancer is increased in people who have chronic acid reflux. Chronic reflux can lead to a pre-cancerous condition known as Barrett's esophagus
