With social distancing, safer-at-home orders and an onslaught of COVID-19 news everywhere we turn, feeling stressed just seems to be a given during this unprecedented public health crisis.
But it doesn't have to be.
Life has changed quite markedly for all of us. However, there are plenty of ways to soothe your frazzled nerves and refocus. In our latest installment of our "Healthy at Home" video series, we turned to our own Health First associates to see how they're keeping stress at bay. Click on this link to watch this video and see how they remain grounded during this difficult time:
- Jessica, Health First Pharmacy Technician, said it's important to take time to take care of yourself - whether it's reading a book or going out to exercise. "Also, reducing your time on social media can help you reduce your stress."
- John Strub, MD, Internal Medicine, Health First Medical Group, said working in his garden has helped provide some peace of mind, as well as "spending extra time with my family and exercising every day."
- Kim, Director of Clinical Performance, Health First Heart & Vascular and Women & Children Service Lines, said, "in our home we're keeping our 7-year-old busy with projects off Pinterest and other websites," as well as other crafts.
- Michele, Administrative Assistant, Health First Medical Group: "I just hit the pause button - go outside, take long walks, watch the sunset. You have to unplug and just hit pause every once in a while."
- Jenna, Medical Assistant, Health First Medical Group, has a simple but important tactic: "I'm spending extra quality time with my family at home."
We hope these tips are helpful and you're able to incorporate some of these stress-busters into your daily routine, too. Keep your chin up - and remember to be well and stay safe.
