The Center for Joint Replacement is a specialized unit within our hospital that's dedicated solely to patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.

  • The Center is 4,100 square feet.
  • The orthopedic unit has 10 beds.
  • Palm Bay Hospital is 1 of 9 in the United States to obtain the C.A.R.E. (Center for Advanced Recovery) designation center recognized for excellence in clinical programs, operations, and patient experience.
  • In addition, Palm Bay Hospital has received the Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification for Total Knee Replacement and Total Hip Replacement, and the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Blue Distinction Certification.
  • The unit is staffed with an experience team of surgeons, specially-trained nurses, therapists, and technicians.

  • Preparation, education, continuity of care, and a pre-planned discharge are essential for optimum results in joint surgery
  • Patients having joint replacement surgery (which includes hips, knees, and shoulders) will go through a comprehensive program that is designed to:
    • Educate about the procedure and follow-up care
    • Assist and support rehabilitation
  • Guidebooks are provided for your patients to use from day one through six weeks after surgery
  • Classes for each patient will be held prior to surgery so patients know exactly what to expect before, during and after joint replacement surgery
  • Most patients will be able to walk the first day after surgery and move towards normal activity in six to twelve days
