“I had surgery at 7:15 a.m. and was discharged by 3:15 p.m. It was the easiest knee replacement I've ever had. I felt back to normal by the next day.”
I had a total knee replacement on my left knee in 2008 and a revision in 2012, from a non-Health First surgeon. When I couldn't ignore the pain in my right knee any longer, I knew I had to give in and have another surgery. I went to Dr. Scott Miller's seminar on joint replacement after I saw that he performed this procedure as an outpatient. I knew this was what I wanted, if possible, not a three- or four-day hospital stay.
The Joint Class before surgery prepared me for everything I would need. I was able to communicate with Dr. Miller through an app to ask questions before and after surgery. The morning after surgery, I was at outpatient therapy at Health First's Viera Hospital Medical Plaza, where I received fantastic results -from surgery to walking unassisted at two weeks.
This type of surgery is a game-changer. I had all the information needed every step of the way for a quick recovery and to return to my normal activities.
