Ethical Obligations

Fulfilling Our Ethical and Legal Obligations

Health First values its reputation in our community and in the region for providing quality care and services to our patients. We attribute our excellent reputation to the commitment, skill, and ethical standards of our employees, physicians, and business associates. As the delivery of healthcare services at a reasonable cost becomes more and more challenging, we need to assure that, from one day to the next, we continue to maintain our values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence.

Compliance Program

At Health First Health Plans we believe the responsibility for ensuring compliance lies within our workforce. We are committed to an environment that prevents, detects, and corrects areas of noncompliance. As a Medicare Advantage Organization (MAO) and Prescription Drug Plan (PDP), we ensure ethical behavior by maintaining an effective Compliance Program in accordance with guidelines established in Chapter 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Parts 422 and 423.

We encourage all of our business partners, including first tier, downstream, and related entities (FDRs), to conduct themselves ethically, honestly, and in compliance with all appropriate healthcare regulations. To help FDRs in their compliance efforts, the following resources outline the regulatory requirements for doing business with Health First Health Plans.
