Visitor guidelines and policies. Our top priorities are always the safety and well-being of our patients, visitors, and associates.

Hospital visitor guidelines.

Visitation is allowed 24 hours/day for all departments.

  • All who enter our facilities must pass through weapons detection and present their government-issued photo ID upon entry.
  • Visitors who are medically vulnerable are encouraged to wear a mask.
  • Visitors are encouraged to practice frequent hand hygiene.

Other guidelines.

  • Masks are no longer required for providers and associates who have abided by the CMS vaccine update. Some individuals will continue to wear a mask due to an exemption status. Also, any (vulnerable) patient, visitor, customer, associate, or provider who wishes to wear a mask may continue to do so. Masks will continue to be available on request. Review our mask policy for more details.
  • For Maternity patients only: Three people are allowed in the delivery room for a vaginal delivery. If a C-section is necessary, we allow one in the operating room and two during recovery.
  • Security/weapons screening is conducted using AI technology, so you do not need to stop for manual security wanding. This equipment is safe for all medical devices.
  • Visitors should present their government-issued photo ID to receive a Visitor ID at the Visitor ID Badging Station. If you are underage or do not have an ID, your photo will be taken, and information manually entered to prepare your Visitor ID.
  • Wash hands prior to entering or leaving a patient's room.
  • Visitors should refrain from visiting when ill or recently exposed to a communicable illness or infection.
  • Visitors should maintain privacy by only entering the room of the patient they are visiting.
  • Facilitating rest and recovery by keeping noise and disturbances to a minimum.
  • Wear protective equipment when applicable.
  • Refrain from smoking, consuming alcohol or using illegal drugs on Health First premises.
  • Visitors should wear appropriate clothing such as shoes and shirts.
  • Abide by patient preferences, as well as clinically necessary restrictions or limitations.
  • Refrain from interfering with normal health care operations.
  • Limit visitation to times specified by each facility.

Cafeteria, gift shop, and parking information.

Patient confidentiality - The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) governs how we use a patient's private health information. Physicians and hospital staff are not able to discuss a patient's condition with visitors unless the patient has specifically given us permission to do so.

Smoking policy - For the health and safety of our patients, visitors, staff, physicians, and volunteers, absolutely no smoking is permitted on Health First premises. In the interest of better health for all, we support smoking cessation through our Freedom from Smoking classes.

Patient safety - Safety is our number one priority. We encourage patients to remind everyone who comes in contact with them -- including staff and visitors -- about the importance of good hand hygiene. Also, please don't be frightened if you hear alarms; check with a nurse to see if a drill is taking place.
