Health First and Cigna Reach Agreement
Health First and Cigna have reached a new three-year agreement that keeps Health First doctors, hospitals, and services in-network for patients with Cigna commercial coverage. The new agreement takes effect June 20, 2026. Your current coverage stays in place until then, so there is no gap in your in-network access.
What this means for you
- You can continue seeing your Health First doctors and using Health First hospitals and services with in-network Cigna benefits.
- If you cancelled or rescheduled an appointment during the negotiation, call your provider’s office and resume care as you normally would.
- If you requested or received Continuity of Care documents, those are no longer required.
What the new agreement includes
Our reimbursement from Cigna had not been meaningfully updated since 2020, even as the cost of delivering care continued to rise. The new agreement reflects what we advocated for:
- Fair, updated reimbursement rates for our hospitals and physicians that recognize rising costs and allow continued investment in access to high-quality care.
- Simpler, clearer administrative requirements that reduce burden and cost.
- Continued patient choice of Health First providers and facilities.
