What you need to know to get online.
Don’t be intimidated by the idea of a virtual visit. If you’ve video-chatted before, this format will feel familiar — like talking with your grandkids or a close friend across the country.
You will need a smartphone, computer, or tablet with a camera that's connected to the internet. Make sure your internet connection is strong and reliable. Wi-Fi or a wired internet connection is generally much faster than a cell signal.
Follow the instructions from your doctor's office. A few days before your appointment, we will email or text you instructions to access your appointment.
This will include information about your appointment and how to log on. If this is your first virtual visits, take a few minutes to get set up in the system and make sure that you feel comfortable.
Log on for your appointment a few minutes early. This will give you time to troubleshoot any technical issues or call your doctor’s office to ask for help.
Did you know? Health First is the only place in Brevard County to offer virtual visits with specialists. So you can get quality care you know & trust.
Treat your virtual visit like an in-office visit.
Set up your web-enabled device in a quiet, private location. If you’re at work and don’t have your own office, see if you can use a conference room. Some patients even take their virtual visit from their car.
Wear loose-fitting clothing. This will make it easier for you to show your doctor a rash, surgical site, or certain parts of your body.
Be prepared with any questions to ask your doctor. Also have paper and a pen available so you can take notes.
Make sure you understand the next steps before ending your appointment. Do you need to schedule a test? What about a follow-up appointment? Do you understand any medication changes?
If you are unsure what will happen next feel free to ask or call the office after your appointment has ended.
