Two siblings are especially grateful for the Thanksgiving meal served to them and their sister, a patient at Health First's William Childs Hospice House. This compassionate gift is an annual tradition for Hospice of Health First associates and volunteers, who provide families the chance to savor special moments.

For siblings Marsha and Aaron, this year's Thanksgiving Day was a joyful gift they're not taking for granted. Both are thankful for having one more memorable holiday dinner with their sister, Bea, who's in Hospice care at Health First's William Childs Hospice House.

"She's still here with us, and I can't ask for more than that," said Aaron, Bea's brother. It's not just a simple meal for them. It's one that many depend on annually from Hospice of Health First associates. For the 16th year in a row, they were able to provide food for more than 600 patients and their families across Brevard County.

And the hospitality at the Hospice House was just what many families needed during a bittersweet time. Marsha, Aaron, and others were given their own Thanksgiving table to share. Caring and compassionate Hospice associates and volunteers went door to door, hand-delivering food to patients and families for the holiday. And that's just one example of helping to ease concerns both siblings initially had regarding Hospice, who now embrace it as a positive experience.

"She's not in pain, and I can tell that they're taking good care of her," said Marsha, Bea's sister. "It means the world to me to know that she can hear us and knows that we're here with her on this special day." It's heartfelt for both siblings, knowing they might not have much time left with their loved ones. It also gives them peace of mind to be able to enjoy the day with Bea, without worrying about preparing and serving a meal. The heartwarming Hospice Thanksgiving meal tradition is truly an extension of the compassionate work Hospice associates provide for patients every day.

"I can't complain about anything," Aaron said. "Everything from the care to the food has been great, and we appreciate everyone's help and compassion."
